and Vice Chairman of COB, attended 7th COBWG and 21st ASEAN COB meeting

Thailand National Bureau of Insurance by Mr. Nopadol Santipakorn, Managing Director of Road Accident Victims Protection Company Limited, attended 7th Council of Bureaux Working Group Meeting  and 21st ASEAN Council of Bureaux on 15 September 2020 and 15 October 2020 respectively via online (Zoom Meeting) at RVP meeting room 703, along with the participants from  ASEAN Secretariat, ASEAN Insurance Council Secretariat(AIC Secretariat), representatives from National Bureau from member states and GIAJ Japan as observer. Thailand National Bureau of insurance and AIC Secretariat jointly organized the meeting to follow up the progress update on ASEAN Compulsory Motor Insurance Scheme with member states and discussed on key issues such as;

Member countries agreed to utilize ACMI system as central system to generate Compulsory Motor Insurance (CMI) and Blue Card for all member states. The official MOU will be signed in 2021.

The operation of COB covers Compulsory Motor Insurance of cargo and passenger vehicles and extend to other vehicles under framework agreement of AFAFGIT, AFAFIST, AFAMT, CBTP also to support the implementation of ASEAN Customs Transit System (ACTS) project of  ASEAN Regional Integration Support from the EU (ARISE).

Member states jointly defined COB Road Map and ACMI Strategic Programs.

Member states have agreed to prepare and submit work plan of each country for 2021 for the purpose of accountability and monitoring.

Putting emphasis on ASEAN Road Safety Awareness.

Creating and updating COB official website and Thailand National Bureau of Insurance’s website ( www.aseancob.org and www.thainb.org )

Progress update on ACMI development and integration with underwriting system of 10 member states.
